Temporary suspension of TGV and TER services on the France-Luxembourg route
The modernisation of the railway lines leading to Luxembourg City is resulting in the closure of the network to the capital of the Grand Duchy, affecting both regional TER trains and TGV high-speed trains.

With regard to TGV, convoys bound for Luxembourg from Paris now stop at Metz or ThionvilleThe last part of the journey is by bus. This adds at least half an hour to the journey. Buses are only accessible to passengers with an INOUI ticket. This situation will continue until 28 August.

Those who were considering an alternative by transferring to a train TER to Metz or Thionville will also have to wait until at least 8 August. The construction of new tracks and the widening of platforms at Luxembourg and Bettembourg stations (the first major stop in the Grand Duchy) are also disrupting traffic. The 12 km separating the small town in the south of Luxembourg from the capital is effectively closed to trains.. TER trains from Metz, Nancy or Thionville therefore stop at Bettembourg, with a bus transfer to the capital.
Trains to resume service on 8 August but will be interrupted again from 29 October to 6 November. Until November, we can expect adapted timetables for both TER and TGV trains, as the work is due to continue until 20 November. Information is available both on the SNCF website and application and on the CFL.
