The strike notice could nevertheless be lifted, with ASLEF officials saying they are open to discussion. " The proposal [from the railways is not and can never be acceptable, but we are prepared to engage in further discussions as part of the process we have previously agreed. "says Mick Whelan, General Secretary of ASLEF.
