Between two days of strike action 19 January and the next one expected on 31 January - is another source of disruption that has been complicating travel for passengers since the 24 January. In this case, a fire on electrical cables, apparently deliberate. As a result Gare de l'Est was interrupted on Tuesday. Only RER E trains, the southern branch of Line P (towards Coulommiers and Provins) and the TER Paris - Troyes - Mulhouse line were running.
Back to normal on 26 January
Although SNCF expected operations to resume mid-morning on Tuesday, the disruption is dragging on. The railway company is referring to a heavy traffic disruption on 25 January on all trains departing from and arriving at Paris Gare de l'Est. We are waiting for 1 in 3 trains on the INOUI and OUIGO TGV networks. And 1 train out of 2 for Line P of the Transilien (Paris-Meaux and Paris-Château-Thierry). As far as the TER Grand Est network is concerned, SNCF describes a " traffic adapted to serve Ile-de-France stations" . The RER E has escaped the disruption and should be able to operate normal traffic.
The situation should be back to normal by 26 January. SNCF said on Wednesday morning: " The work continues today and this evening. Traffic will return to normal on Thursday 26 January" .
