Passengers wishing to travel on trains from, to or within the Luxembourg are in for a tough few weeks. Visit TGV between Paris and Luxembourg via Metz and Thionville will undergo adjustments. To continue to guarantee the impeccable condition of the rail infrastructure and meet the growing need for mobility, four lines of CFL will be closed for works during various periods between 11.07. and 14.09.2025 (inclusive). The lines concerned are important because they link the Grand Duchy to its neighbours. The only exception is the line linking Luxembourg to Arlon in Belgiumwhich is not undergoing any service changes this summer.
The four suspended axes are :
- Luxembourg - Esch/Alzette - Rodange from 11.07. to 14.09.2025
- Luxembourg - Thionville - Metz from 11.07. to 14.09.2025
- Luxembourg - Ettelbruck -Troisvierges - Gouvy from 19.07. to 10.08.2025
- Luxembourg - Wasserbillig - Trier (Germany) from 23.08. to 14.09.2025
This work is taking place during the school holidays. As this is a period of lower ridership, more alternative buses are available. Some 200 drivers will be making more than 1,100 bus journeys a day over the summer. This alternative service will be spread across various stations in Luxembourg City, to avoid congestion at the bus station. The buses will depart from or arrive at the Rocade (Bonnevoie), Boulevard Paul Eyschen (Limpertsberg) and Luxexpo (Kirchberg) stations.
Details of replacement buses are available in the timetable search at www.cfl.lu or via the CFL mobile or Mobiliteit.lu applications. The CFL believes that journey times will increase by between 25 and 45 minutes.
