GETTING THERE

Air France is the only airline to offer a direct service between Paris CDG and Yerevan's Zvarnots airport. Air France offers two flights a week, lasting 4 hours and 40 minutes, operated by two-class Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights depart from Paris at 1pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and return on Wednesdays and Sundays at 9.15am from Yerevan.

Part guest house, part boutique hotel, Toon Armeni is housed in a former nobleman's residence in the heart of the village of Dilijan. Everything is there: the gigantic traditional balcony/pergola, the peaceful garden/garden, and even the restaurant - excellent home cooking by the way - set up in a former outbuilding. Everywhere you look, sepia-toned photos, heavy curtains, old wardrobes and antiques. The hotel has just eight rooms, which means it can only accommodate very small groups. If there's one place to go in the city to discover Armenian wine - white, red, sparkling... - it's In Vino, Yerevan's most famous wine bar, founded in 2012. Megerian Carpet

Carpets, carpets and more carpets. There are so many of them, on the floor and on the walls, that enthusiasts are going crazy. What's more, the 30 craftswomen behind their looms are quick to give skilful demonstrations. What's more, the factory has a private museum on its premises, as well as - and this is even more surprising - its own restaurant. And what a restaurant it is, since the chef, Cedrac Mamoulian, is totally passionate about his work and creates menus based on recipes from old manuscripts. It's worth noting that the premises are large enough, and fully equipped, to accommodate incentive groups. Live entertainment is provided, particularly for gala evenings.
