KDS tackles 'Maverick' spending to guide travel policy

KDS is launching a new technological solution to provide a better framework for the company's travel policy (PVE): KDS Maverick, which calls to order business travellers who are about to leave the preferred booking channels.

"Maverick": the umpteenth English-language term in the field of travel management, which sums up one of the travel manager's main tasks in just a few letters. In other words, the bookings that escape the company's travel policy, negotiated contracts and other privileged tools. A veritable black hole, in which up to 82% of hard-negotiated discounts with suppliers could disappear. With this in mind, KDS is launching a new tool targeting these deviations from travel policy, under the same name, "Maverick". In practical terms, the specialist in business travel technology is now offering a new tool designed to "warn, educate and redirect" travellers who are about to "step out of line", whether voluntarily or not. KDS estimates that 50% of employees are simply not aware of the travel policy...

The Maverick tool is available independently of the range of KDS solutions, with the aim of calling mobile professionals to order via a pop-up warning: an alert saying "it seems you're on a site devoted to travel. No problem. Just make sure you book with our travel agency". The message goes on to highlight three good reasons for complying with the recommended process: safety, prices and future negotiations. A more or less flexible framework depending on the company's objective, which can configure the tool to simply inform the traveller, or simply block these "maverick" bookings.
