On 2 July, Lufthansa announced a new application for registration called Airline Checkins, compatible with over 200 airlines. Designed by the Lufthansa Innovation Hub, it enables you to book flights and check in directly via the app. Contrary to the general trend where each carrier deploys its own solution, the services offered by Airline Checkins are available from 200 airlines. What's more, the app offers customisation options such as choice of headquarters or integration of loyalty programmes. An alarm system has also been added, informing business travellers about their flight and any changes that may affect it.
Developed with feedback
The application can already be downloaded from iPhone or AndroidBut Lufthansa's Innovation Hub intends to improve it over time. The carrier has announced that it is working on new features such as a subscription system for access to the lounges or a free Wi-Fi connection on board. According to the German airline, the various aspects of its software were developed after studying feedback from 2,500 users. Lufthansa intends to continue along this path: " This information will enable us to continue developing our application, enriching it with additional services "said Kristian Weymar, head of the AirlineCheckins project. For companies, the company is offering a programming interface that enables the application to be integrated directly into travel management systems. Company employees are then automatically registered for all their business trips. The first B2B partnerships have been formed with online travel agencies and a major consultancy firm.
