Interview with Christoph Hoffmann, CEO of 25hours Hotel Company

You already had a hotel in Hamburg. Why did you open a second establishment in HafenCity?

HafenCity is Europe's most promising urban development project. Located in the immediate vicinity of the port and the Speicherstadt, the 'warehouse city', the district reflects Hanseatic virtues at their very best. It was an exciting prospect to be part of this adventure. And as well as being innovative and creative, HafenCity also has the advantage of being easily accessible. It's just a 10-minute walk to the city centre.

How have you developed your offering in this very unique environment?

In this modern district, customers expect design and surprising services. That's what we came up with, adding elements of storytelling, historical allusions and vintage furniture. The idea was to create a cheerful place to relax, playing on the 'maritime' aspect.

And did you like it?

The results have exceeded all our expectations. With an average room rate of around €100, the hotel has been a great success since it opened, with an occupancy rate of over 85 %.
