A new twist in the world of business travel: Spendesk is adding travel to its offering. Spendesk Travel was announced on Tuesday by what was previously a specialist in expenses, as its name suggests.

" Guided by our initial belief that technology should free up our users to focus on what's important, we are continually expanding our platform. After the launch in 2024 of our Procure-to-Pay solution, making Spendesk the first European platform to fully integrate purchasing and expense management for SMEs, the next step was a natural one. "explains Rodolphe Ardant.

The Founder and Chairman of Spendesk continued: " New digital travel solutions have certainly greatly improved booking processes. But without integration with financial processes, gaps in control, visibility and efficiency persist. At Spendesk, we believe that travel should be integrated directly into the financial management system, which is why we offer access to this functionality at no extra cost to our customers. With Spendesk Travel, budgetary decisions, payments and traceability are combined in a single, controlled workflow, from request to closing. ".

With Spendesk Travel, the French start-up promises to integrate travel booking, payment and budgeting, at no extra cost to Spendesk customers. Companies can define and enforce an optimised travel policy, then track bookings via a single workflow.

Spendesk is already planning to go further. Its managers warn: "Spendesk Travel lays the foundations for a more ambitious vision of AI for expense management. Our product roadmap also includes the imminent launch of a new generation of spend agents capable of proactively optimising travel bookings, detecting savings opportunities and delivering predictive analytics to help finance teams optimise their spend management. The aim of these functionalities is to go beyond the travel booking process to address the new emerging category of 'Spend Planning & Analysis (SP&A)', transforming travel from a reactive expense item into a genuine strategic lever driven by data".
