Three months after the launch of its high-speed rail service in France between Paris and Milan, Trenitalia is following its transport plan by announcing a gradual increase in its offering between now and the summer. In addition to the two daily services operated by Frecciarossa, its TGV high-speed train which has been running between Paris and Milan via Lyon, Chambéry, Modane and Turin since 18 December, the Italian national carrier will be adding three rotations: the first on 5 April at 2.30pm from Paris Gare de Lyon and at 5.11pm from Lyon Perrache, the other two on 1 June, scheduled at 8.59am and 8pm from Paris, and at 6.21am and 11.42am from Lyon. Representing some 4,600 extra places every dayThese high-speed trains will stop at Lyon Part-Dieu station in either direction.
With five round trips a day, Trenitatla will start to make an impact and take market share from SNCF, despite its 22 daily frequencies by TGV Inoui (plus 2 to 3 Ouigo lowcost). In the leisure market during the summer, for which bookings are already open, then in the business segment from the autumn.
