A few weeks after Iberiawhich announced a partnership with Spanish start-up "Bag on BoardManchester airport is now offering a practical service for travellers: the collection of their waste. luggage at home. The Mancunian platform has just unveiled a partnership with AirportrThis is the first time the airline has offered a home luggage check-in service. In other words, the passenger unloads their baggage at home, and only finds it once they have arrived at their destination. To do this, the passenger defines a time slot on the airport website before travelling, so that the baggage can be checked and collected at home. The operation costs between £20 and £36 for one item of baggage, depending on the collection point, and £7 for each additional item.
Officials at Manchester airport describe it as a "win-win" system: not only does it make the passenger's journey smoother, but it also enables the airport operator to reduce the amount of baggage to be handled on site, and therefore the associated costs. " MAG is working hard to find innovative ways to improve every stage of the journey through our airports, and this new partnership, which is a market first here in the UK, is a crucial development in that process." notes Andrew Harrison, CEO of airport services at Manchester Airport (MAG).
