VINCI Airports unveiled a £500 million investment program in late September, worth nearly €600 million, to modernize and expand Edinburgh Airport. It spans the next five years and covers the expansion and modernization of the terminal. The group is leading the project with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), its co-owner. It is the largest investment in the platform’s history, Scotland’s first airport by traffic.

The plan indeed responds to the increase in passenger traffic. The airport welcomed nearly 17 million passengers in 2025, % 7.5 more than in 2024. It had already surpassed the 15 million mark in 2024, driven in part by the arrival of JetBlue and the return of Emirates to Dubai.

Furthermore, VINCI Airports will modernize the international arrival facilities and the baggage handling and check-in areas. The range of shops, restaurants and services will also expand. This five-year plan constitutes the first phase of a broader development project.

The operator thus wants to open new routes to Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia. John Swinney, the Prime Minister of Scotland, attended the launch of the project. « This major investment will allow Edinburgh Airport to strengthen its competitiveness and position itself at the highest level among international airport platforms. », he declared. He adds: « Scotland is open to international companies and investments. »For Rémi Maumon of Longevialle, general director of VINCI Airports,« Edinburgh has become a strategic airport within the VINCI Airports network ".
