Continued expansion for Accor

Accor continues to expand with the opening of several Mercure hotels in the United Kingdom, Ibis hotels in Latin America and Sofitel hotels around the world.

The signing of a franchise agreement with Focus Hotels has enabled the French group to offer ten new Mercures in a number of secondary English towns and cities since January.

These are part of the strengthening of the offer across the Channel, marked by the recent opening of two All Seasons in London, a Novotel and an Ibis. At the same time, this budget chain is continuing to extend its network in Latin America to capitals and major cities such as Bogota (Colombia), Asuncion (Paraguay) and Antafagosta in Chile.

Two countries are receiving particular attention: Brazil, where Ibis, which has been established for many years, has just passed the 50-hotel mark, and Mexico, where Accor plans to expand its presence. In Luxury, three prestigious new addresses were unveiled at the end of 2010: the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra in Cambodia, a resolutely business hotel with an international conference centre, and two new flagship hotels: the Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom, designed by Jean Nouvel in the Austrian capital, and the Sofitel So Mauritius, an 84-suite resort on Mauritius designed by Kenzo.
