Is the threatening shadow of Airbnb behind the recent launch of new brands? In any case, the hotel industry is working hard to come up with answers that will put the lie to the chronicles of predicted 'disruption'. R.evo, a hybrid concept presented by the Austrian group Vienna House, plays on all fronts to appeal to all travellers, with classic - but rigorously designed - rooms, studios, rooms for several people to share, and even workspaces for hire by the half-day. Expected in Munich, then Budapest, Hamburg and Bangkok, the R.evo will offer lively common areas and a host of practical services.
For its part, with the Khos brand, Rosewood intends to revolutionise the traditional business hotel in a spirit that is both 'bleisure' and collaborative. "Hotels have been left behind by the evolution of this category of traveller, and Khos embodies a new era in the hotel industry in which business travel is inseparable from the art of living. The first Khos will be in a more contemporary business environment," explains Sonia Cheng, CEO of the Rosewood Hotel Group, which owns Le Crillon and the budget lifestyle brand Pentahotels. The first Khos hotels are due to open their doors in 2018 and will offer a more contemporary business environment. Encouraging exchanges between travellers, they will also have an innovative approach to recreation and relaxation, in the spas of course, but also within the workspaces and meeting rooms.
