Four months after Denis Hennequin stepped down as CEO in April 2013, Accor has found a new leader in Sébastien Bazin. The head of Colony Capital Europe - best known for his role as Chairman of PSG in 2009 - was already part of the interim trio appointed in the spring to oversee the post-Hennequin period, alongside Philippe Citerne and Yann Caillère, who is leaving the group.
"At the end of the selection process, the Board considered Sébastien Bazin to be the best choice for the Accor Group from among all the high-quality candidates considered," explained Philippe Citerne, who has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Accor Board of Directors. "His excellent knowledge of the Accor Group, his experience in the hotel industry and his truly international culture are all assets that will enable him to successfully lead the transformation undertaken by the Group to ensure its development and to assert itself as one of the world leaders in the industry," adds Philippe Citerne.
"I am taking on this new role with great ambition for the Group, to which I am deeply attached, and with full awareness of the challenges it faces today," says Sébastien Bazin. Accor's new CEO "hopes that it will rediscover the boldness, dynamism and desire that have always driven it.
