Already present in a number of strategic business travel markets via its 44 establishments, the W brand is preparing to enter a new strategic destination: Israel. Tel Aviv is one of the most elegant and cosmopolitan Mediterranean [destinations], and we are delighted to extend our footprint to Israel," says Roeland Vos, President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The hotel will have 125 rooms - including an Extreme WOW suite, and a business centre open non-stop - with views over the Mediterranean, and will be coupled with a residence of 38 flats. The project, carried out in partnership with RFR Holding, is part of the redevelopment of the port of Jaffa. Housed in a 19th-century building, the W Tel Aviv - Jaffa hotel will be designed by English architect John Pawson and the Ramy Gill Architects and Urban Designers firms, who are behind the renaissance of the port district. The launch of W in Israel aël bears witness to Starwood's ambitious development plan, which aims to have a total of 44 branded establishments in operation by 2016. The brand's future flagship destinations include Beijing, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, Bogota and Milan.
