2011: a record year for the hotel industry in France

With almost 199 million overnight stays in 2011, the French hotel industry has beaten its 2007 record, according to figures published on Monday by Protourisme.

In the end, the increase was limited compared with 2010 (+3%), but was enough to set a new record for the French hotel industry. Gone are the 198 million overnight stays recorded in 2007: the record has now been surpassed. Final sales figures are not yet available, but Protourisme is also reporting an unprecedented level, up by around 7%. The increase was driven in particular by the top-of-the-range hotel sector, which posted double-digit growth (+10%).
