An economic December for the European hotel industry

Hotel prices in Europe fell with the temperatures in December, according to the Trivago index published this week. The barometer shows an average drop of 3% in Europe.

The average price of a night's stay in a major European city was €109 in December, according to the latest edition of the trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI). This slight fall was particularly marked in Paris (-4%), where the average rate fell to 160 euros, down 3th position in the rankings. The trend is most marked in Barcelona (-11%), London (-9%) and above all Amsterdam (-15%). Geneva remains the most expensive city according to the monthly barometer published by Trivago, while Madrid (€97), Berlin (€87), Athens (€77) and Prague (€98) remain below the symbolic €100 mark.
