The Hilton Group has embarked on a major project - costing several million dollars - at its Hilton Concord hotel in San Francisco's East Bay. The aim is to turn the hotel green in the coming months. In addition to the hotel's new look, it is the way it operates itself that is to take a new direction, to reduce its impact on the environment. "This gives us the opportunity to have a positive impact on the environment by integrating sustainable practices into our operations, which conserve natural resources and reduce waste, pollution and the hotel's carbon footprint," says Jack Hlavac, General Manager of the hotel. Recycling, reducing food waste, water conservation, efficient lighting: the hotel has made some good resolutions, with a view to reopening in the first half of 2012.
