Slowly but surely, Melia is strengthening its position in Asia. The Spanish group has just announced its intention to launch a third hotel in China in 2015, two years after the scheduled opening of the Gran Meliá Xian. The 280-room hotel will be clearly positioned for business travellers in one of China's fastest-growing cities. For some years now, Chongqing has been attracting the biggest names in business travel, as shown by the recent opening of air services by Qatar Airways and then FinnairIt is the subject of special attention from central government thanks to its status as an autonomous municipality.
