New brand - Shangri-la launches Kerry Hotels

Like Starwood with W, Hyatt with Andaz or, more recently, Jumeirah with Venu or Carlson/Rezidor with Hotel Missoni, Shangri-La has broadened its brand portfolio by adding a five-star design and contemporary brand to its offering, in addition to its eponymous luxury brand and the top-of-the-range Traders hotels.

Last February, Kerry Hotels made its debut in Shanghai with the opening of the Kerry Hotel Pudong. Located in the heart of the Asian metropolis' business district, this establishment is a new destination of choice for business travellers, with its 574 rooms and seven Club floors out of a total of 31.

In addition to free WiFi, the hotel boasts the city's largest sports club and meeting space, with 7,300 m2 dedicated to meetings. The Kerry Hotel is also distinguished by a new three-in-one restaurant concept "The Cook, The Meet and The Brew", i.e. a restaurant with 11 different cooking stations, a steakhouse and a pub-brasserie with its signature beers. A second Kerry Hotel is being prepared in Beijing, converting the existing Shangri-La Kerry Centre to the new brand. The group predicts, without committing itself, that a dozen or so Kerry Hotels could open by 2015.
