STR report: European hotel industry led by Paris

November was a positive month overall for the European hotel industry, with an increase in demand logically followed by an increase in rates. This is what emerges from the report recently published by STR Global, which highlights in particular the good performance of Parisian establishments.

According to figures published by STR Global, Paris saw the biggest rise in average hotel rates in November (+12.21TP3Q) compared to the same period in 2010. The average nightly rate (Average Daily Rate, ADR) in the capital reached €227.32 last month. The Paris hotel industry also stood out for its growth in revenue per room (RevPAR): the capital was the only European destination, along with Budapest, to post a double-digit increase (+16.41TP3Q to €179.48).

More generally, as in October, European hotels are posting solid performances as 2011 draws to a close: "despite a deterioration in the general economic environment, demand remains on the rise, with an increase of 4.4% recorded last month", points out Elizabeth Randall, Managing Director of STR Global.
