Study - Hotel rates: On the rise

The latest "Hotel Price Radar" study published by HRS is headlined by "Widespread rise in hotel rates in the first quarter of 2011".

By comparing the average price of a double room in 50 of the world's major cities with the price in the first quarter of 2010, the booking portal shows a strong upward trend across the globe.

Topping the list of hotel inflation: Rio de Janeiro (+68.1 %), Mumbai (+35.8 %), Sydney (+26.9 %), Cape Town (+25.5 %), Buenos Aires (+20.1 %), Athens (+20 %), Zurich (+17.6 %) and Moscow (+15.4 %). Same phenomenon in major cities "global"Growth was particularly strong in New York (+15 %), London (+12.8 %) and Paris (+4.9 %).

Finally, in the ranking of the most expensive cities, Sydney comes out on top, with the average price of a double room estimated by HRS at e176.9 in the first quarter of 2011. It is followed by New York (149.6), Rio (149.2), Moscow (148.85), Zurich (140.9) and Singapore (132.4).
