The change of ownership will take place gradually: initially, Carslon will continue to handle reservations and other services for the Regent hotels, while Rezidor will continue to manage the establishments for which it was already responsible.
Owner of the Grand Formosa Regent in Taipei, opened twenty years ago by Robert Burns and Adran Zecha, FIHC distinguished itself by launching new concepts that have since become luxury classics, such as villas and brand boutiques integrated into the establishments. "Our mission is to make Regent the world's most admired luxury hotel brand," said an ambitious Steven Pan, the group's director, when the sale was announced. He now wants to transform the Regent chain into an 'art de vivre' hotel to appeal to both business and leisure customers. Several sites are already planned in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, Beverly Hills, London, Paris and Sydney.
